Everyone! I have included a Personal Childhood Web at the bottom of my blog. Just scroll DOWN!
I have included pictures of my parents, my sister, and my grandsons. I do not have any childhood pictures, digital cameras were not yet invented when I was a child. We also didn't have computers. I still remember black and white TV's! 8 tracks! Pogo Sticks! Record Albums! Anyway, just SCROLL DOWN!

Thanks for sharing your web, Mary!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are fantastic, and I especially love the one of Nana - what a sweet smile! Isn't it interesting and heart-warming to take a minute to remember those people who have nurtured you? This was a fun assignment. It makes me more aware of everyone's childhood web now, as well as the impact it did, or did not have on them growing up.
I'm glad that you enjoyed the pictures. This assignment was a lot of fun! Yes, remembering my childhood does make me aware of the webs of my grandchildren and the children in my child care.

I love your pictures, Mary! The loyalty that you have for your family is apparent. The things that you remembered about each one and the thoughts that you shared were heartwarming. Thank you so much for sharing a picture of your childhood family web.

I love the picture of Nana! She apparently influenced the fact that you are here with us. I'm interested in your sister. Do you have a picture of her you you feel comfortable sharing? I was interested in your experience with prejudice as it pertains to your sister (Loreman, 2011). When your eyes are forced open to some of the ugly realities of prejudice and discrimination, it hurts. Hopefully, you will share more about this, how it has impacted you and how it has impacted your family? Unfortunately, discrimination and prejudice plays a role in the lives of many children. By the way, thanks for pointing out the differences in my grandmothers. I had not really thought about it until you pointed it out.
ReplyDeleteMary - I looked back at my posts, and you asked about my sister. I believe another colleague commented on my grandmothers. Sorry. My sister was 5 years younger than me, so she really didn't "nurture" me. However, now that we are adults and both have families, the age difference has evaporated. She is a wonderful sister, dedicated mother, and a sensitive soul. Thanks for asking.
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing pictures of your family. I feel that I am really getting to know my classmates now that I am able to see into their lives. I encourage the teachers that I work with to learn as much as they can about the children and families they work with because the more you know about someone the more you can reach out to them, find what they need and encourage them to learn and grow. I can "see" how your family has helped shaped you, how much you love them and that you will be an asset to your sister now and in the future!
